CentOS will be discontinued

#Linux #CentOS

CentOS will be, at least in his current form, discontinued. This is regrettable because, while i prefer Debian, CentOS was always a good option if you need a stable and secure system with a (very) long term support. The 10 year support for every major version was unique and hopefully someone else will take it up from there and establish a “new” CentOS.

But until then, you have to buy a RHEL license or try “CentOS Stream”, which will be the testing platform for RHEL packages. This does not mean that CentOS Stream will be terribly buggy and unreliable and as CentOS mentions in their blog post, RHEL had big bugs as well. But you can’t deny the fact that the chances that it is at least less reliable than CentOS/RHEL is high and this makes a difference depending on your system and how many resources you have for testing.
